Fairy Stories & Fairy Stories by Clive Johnson

This is an interesting book.  You read the well known fairy tale and right after that you read an adult version set in present time.  It's totallly different but the message of the story is the same.

The author sent me a copy of this book to read for review (thank you).  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

I'm familiar with fairy tales but I've never looked for messages in them.  I'll read them differently now.  The adult tales hold your interest and you begin to see a parallel between them and the original fairy tale.  He adds an epilogue that explains it if you weren't sure you found the common theme.  His short stories add to the fairy tales.

It's traditional tales for children and contemporary tales for adults.   I enjoyed this book.  If you like fairy tales, you'll like this book, too.  It makes you open your mind and look at fairy tales another way.
