A Trip with Trouble: The Mountain Lodge Mysteries by Diane Kelly

A group of women motorcyclists come to spend some time at the lodge and ride their motorcycles.  Misty is thrilled.  This will help her pay for the lodge.

Everyone had fun and chatted until the leader of the group was killed.  Misty wants to find out who did it.  There are a lot of suspects.  Everyone claimed to love her but someone must not have.

They find her off the road and it looks like someone knocked her and the bike down there.  Will she  be able to figure it out?  Who could have hated her enough to do that?

Getaway With Murder by Diane Kelly

Misty has bought a lodge in the mountains and hopes to book groups into it.  As she and her staff work on cleaning up, she gets a reservation.  She's thrilled!

Everyone is appearing to have a good time even if the owner of the group likes to tell everybody what to do.  Then about halfway through their visit, they find the owner under the porch dead.

Misty knows it had to be someone staying there that did it and she starts investigating just like the cops.

There are false leads, no way to prove who did it because the power went out, and it's getting close to their return to the world.

Will Misty find the murderer?

The Moonshine Shack Murder (A Southern Homebrew Mystery) by Diane Kelly

Hattie's grandfather taught her how to make moonshine.  She's using those skills to run her own business.

Berkley let me read this book for review.  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

She has a competitor across the street, so she goes to talk to him.  He agrees he'll buy some of her stock to sell to his customers who come in to drink.  She gets warned about him.  He doesn't always pay his bills.  So when she goes over with her merchandise she intends to ask for her money up front.  But before she even gets through the door, he's telling her he cancelling the order...  He found a better deal elsewhere.  She's disappointed but not too heartbroken over it.

Then, one evening when she was having a hard time sleeping, she hears a noise in the front of the shop.  She goes out to look and finds him on the sidewalk.  His throat has been cut by one of her bottles.

She didn't do it but the lady cop is not so sure...

Hattie really likes the cop who rides a horse.  They agree to go to dinner when the case is finished.

There are a lot of suspects because he was not a very nice man.  Hattie starts asking questions to prove who the real killer is.  The man cop  warns her away but she continues.  And she eventually finds the real killer.

The only problem is that the killer is now after her...

Murder With a View by Diane Kelly: Series: A House-Flipper Mystery (#3)

Whitney and her cousin, Buck, go to a tax sale to bid on an old run down motel.  There's a man there with more money than the cousins have but Whitney talks about a piece of property that's up for bid first and the man with the money bites and bids for it.  While he's in paying for it, the motel comes up.  They had to use all the money they had to get it, but they did.  Now they have to rehab it.

St Martin's Paperbacks and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published February 9th.

First they find a man using one of the rooms for a temporary shelter.  He seems nice and volunteers to work with them for some extra money when he gets out on the road again.  They agree.

The next discovery is even worse.  Whitney finds a dead man in one of the beds.  He's a well-known singer and publicity over his death gets going right away.  One of the cops is Whitney's boyfriend so she calls him to come and join the others.

There is no real trail or clues to find the murderer, so a lot of questions are asked.  Several people get on the suspect list but they quickly come off.

Whitney almost loses her life when she figures out who did it.  Will her cousin and boyfriend get there in time?

 

Paw and Order by Diane Kelly

Megan is a K-9 officer and Brigit is her dog.  They're celebrities because of the last case they worked on, so the chief sends her to the local fair for more promotion of the police department and its officers.  Megan isn't enthused about the job but gets that way not long after she enters the fairgrounds.

St. Martin's Press and Net Galley gave me the opportunity to read this book (thank you).  It will be published December 30th, so take your Christmas money down and get a copy.  This is the second in the series, so pick up the first one while you wait.

Megan had a relationship with Seth from the bomb squad.  Seth has some problems and he backed off.  Now he wants to get together again but he doesn't want to talk about his family and those problems.  Megan says talk or forget it.  He's willing to try.

In the meantime, someone is stealing money from folks at the fair.  They're robbing them in the restrooms.  Even with descriptions from the victims, she's having trouble finding them.  While she's working on solving that problem, she's got a guy flirting with her there.  Like she needed more trouble.

I like stories that have an animal in them and Brigit is a delightful character.  Megan is her own person and she's not secure in the romance field.  I wanted to shove her in the right direction but she'll have to find it on her own.  That's how life is too, right?

This is a cozy mystery set amongst the farm animals and rodeo.  I could almost smell the cotton candy and corn dogs.  I enjoyed this read.  Why don't you taste it?
