The Reverend falls in love with a member of his congregation.  His younger brother has found a love, too.  But there are obstacles.  As they try to get around them, they have a young boy that sees ghosts and is small for his age.  He gets beat up.  But now the adults will watch for him.

There is a lot going on and the Reverend as been turned down twice when he asked about marriage.  He wants to give up but feels that God wants him to try another approach.  He also knows who he loves now.

As you read you wonder how it all is going to turn out...

Last Chance Christmas by Hope Ramsay

The only reason Lark is in town is because her father died and he wanted his ashes strewn on the 18th hole of Golfing for God golf course.  He didn't mention it was closed and run down.  Or that she wouldn't be able to get permission to honor his final wishes.  He also didn't mention Zeke, who died the night he left town...

First person she meets in town is the local cop, when he stops to find out what she's doing.  His first name is Stone and that's what he acts like, too.  Lark agrees to ask for permission to spread the ashes and he finds her a place to stay.  Then things get much more exciting in Last Chance...

No one wants Lark asking questions about her father, gossip in town travels faster than on Twitter, and she's attracted to the cop.  Both of them are carrying baggage, there's a bit of conflict between the Jews and Christians (mostly in one mother's mind), and Zeke's suicide is probably murder.  When there is another suicide/murder now, things start unraveling.  If that's not enough for you, there are even some angels involved.

This reads like a cozy, but is a bit darker than they normally are.  It takes Lark and Stone to open up the secrets of the town.  Lark's father does get his wish, but you'll be amazed at how that happens.

Why not visit Last Chance yourself?  Stone's children add to the story and you'll find yourself rooting for them even more than you do the adults.
