Murder in the City (Country Girl in the Big City Cozy Mystery Book 1) by Susan Harper

Bonnie is going to the city to go to college.  She's rooming with Katie, her next door neighbor at the farm.  She's a bit scared about living in apartment building, but Katie says they are nice.

She's amused to see the dwarf goat in Katie's apartment.  She had wondered what happened to it.  As they bring her boxes up to the room, the door was left open and now the goat has escaped! 

They traverse through the apartment house looking for the goat.  One obnoxious man complains about the noise they are making but they are just knocking on doors and talking quietly.  He calls the police.  Then the girls hear the goat.  The silly thing is in the cop car...

They survive this fiasco even if the man is still angry.  

Then someone has shoved the mouthy man out his apartment window and he is dead.  The cops question the girls and everyone starts avoiding them.

Bonnie decides to find the murderer so they aren't suspects anymore.  She goes in open doors and windows looking for clues.  The cop that likes her tells her to knock it off.  Then he takes her up to the dead man's apartment to look for clues.  She finds a good one... 

Island Investigation (Caribbean Cruise Cozy #6) by Susan Harper

Hope, Dae-un and Felix all decide to go snorkeling on their day off.  After all, it's the Bahamas and their tickets are free.

As they finish up snorkeling, they find the generous man with them has also arranged a trip to a very small island where they can snoop around.

As the weather picks up, they realize they should get ready to leave.  It looks like it might be bad.  But the boat that brought them in is gone.  And one of the men in the group is dead.  There are three  people around him and they all say they didn't hit him with that rock.  Someone killed him...

They are the only people on the island.  So they break into one building to get out of the wind.  They store the dead body in there.  They are hungry so they raid the snack machine.  No one cell phones work out here.  They go to bed in whatever chair seems comfortable.

In the morning, they have more snacks and attempt to use the phone to call for help.  When the cops show up everyone is a suspect.

Hope knows it could have been any of the three.  She tries to figure it out.  The cops aren't doing any better.

This is a good mystery with a surprising ending.  I enjoyed it.

Violence On Vacation (Caribbean Cruise Cozy #5) by Susan Harper

Hope is going out again but this time she's taking her sister and some friends with her.  It will be good to see her sister again...

She's working hard, doing her job, when she visits her sister's table and finds them drinking when they are under aged.  Th.y have fake ID's.  She confiscated them and their drinks.  Devon, Monica's boyfriend, is old enough to drink so she leaves him his drink but wonders if he might not be too old for her sister.

The trip turns into a nightmare when her sister is jailed for murder.  They found her roommate in the closet dead...

She knows Monica didn't do it but the security officer won't listen to her.  She's going to have to find the real murderer before they hit land.  Felix is willing to help her.  Can she find the murderer in a couple of days?

Excursions to Die For (Caribbean Cruise Cozy #4) by Susan Harper

Hope is happy to see how this cruise is working out.  Everyone is having a good time and the man who took her promotion because his daddy owns the cruise line is finally being decent to her.  Her favorite customers are an old couple who need help getting around but want to see everything, and a young couple on their seventh anniversary.

The young couple is looking for another activity so Hope suggests doing parasailing.  They are attached to the ship and they can see for miles up in the air.  The husband is a bit skeptical but his wife is so enthused he says yes.  It's scheduled for the next morning.

The older couple takes a road trip and gets to look out from a lookout to see the beach and animals about.  They loved it.

The parasailing is ready to go the next morning and Hope goes to watch.  They launch the young couple and the cable breaks.  Soon they've flown out to sea...

Hope looks and the launch line was cut.  This was no accident.  They get search and rescue out and they recover the husband.  When they finally find her life jacket, it's shredded.    It looks like a shark got her.

Not only was the line cut, the cameras were disabled.  Who would know how to do that?  And why would anyone want to kill them?

The security guy on board is slow and not real smart, so Hope starts her own investigation with help.  Will she find the killer before they get to their destination?

Kangaroos and Killings (Flight Risk #8) by Susan Harper

Kendall and Pauline decide to visit Australia next.  They intend to see the sights and visit the wild animals (safely) but they don't realize that the tour guide and guests had a wild human in the group.

They have a location that supposed to one of the beauties of Australia, so they go on a tour that will take you there.  The guide knows the roads well but he's not as well versed on the animals.  He's also a bit overbearing.  But no one expected to wake up in the morning and find him dead of snake bites.  How could those snakes have gotten in his tent?  They were warned to keep their tents closed and to check before they laid down.  He was an experience outback guide.  He knew better.  So how?

Next the jeep breaks down as they are going for help and they get lost in the outback.  They're out of water and food, and it's getting harder to walk in the heat of the day as well as being very dangerous in the night.  Then Pauline's little dog disappears.  She's distraught and doesn't want to leave but they need to go and leave without it.

Kendall keeps investigating until she gets to the identity of killer.  But the killer has already killed once, once more won't matter...

A Killing in Kenya (Flight Risk #2) by Susan Harper

Kendall is a flight attendant that has found a friend in Pauline, a rich older woman.  Pauline loves to travel and she invites Kendall to go along on a safari with her, all expenses paid.  She likes having company and they visit fun places together.  Kendall says yes.  On the flight over, she talks to another flight attendant and Pauline invites her, too.  She only has a few days off but she says yes.  She may regret that after the fact...

They start out by staying in a hotel that has giraffes on the grounds.  Even though Kendall was on the top floor, she had her window open and a giraffe woke her up by licking her.  When they go out to see the animals on the preserve they find rhinos.  One man on the tour says he's going to take one for a trophy; he's paid his fees to do it.  Most everyone is offended.  The man running a reserve for the animals in angrier than most.

The next morning, Kendall's flight attendant friend is being taken away by the police.  The hunter has been killed in the kitchen and she was holding the murder weapon.  The Kenya police don't speak English.  When the accused runs away, it gets worse.

Pauline might be older but she's still feisty.  She steals a vehicle from the hotel and takes the accused to the American Embassy.  Then she pretends she's old and confused when she returns.

This was a fun cozy mystery that I enjoyed reading.

Murder Mystery Party (Senoia Cozy Mystery Book 9) by Susan Harper

Felicity has two businesses going in the same building.  She's taking courses to become a PI and they do event planning and party planning in the other segment.  She has an ex-cop heading the PI work and her boyfriend is in charge of the other half.  They do overlap and the employees work where they are needed.  When they do a murder mystery party, the person who dies was not the one that was supposed to...

The author does a very good job of depicting people as they really are.  The ex-cop has a bad temper and his anger rises quickly.  Felicity is well-rounded, has a good boyfriend, and works well with others.  The woman who ended up with a body at her body demands a refund.  Felicity gives it to her.  And then she starts digging into why that popular girl died.

The story moves right along with everyone looking for clues.  What they find out surprises them.  When they realize the motive, they can't believe it.  The killer already killed once, what's a few more?

This was a very good cozy.  I'd read more in this series.
