The Second Time We Met by Leila Cobo

She's 16 and very young, very protected, and very naive.  He's an 18 year old guerrilla pretending to be 24.  Their love was not meant to be but it happened.  He returns to the hills.  She's pregnant and is sent away by her family...

Grand Central Publishing sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you).  It has been published and you can find a copy at your local bookstore now.

Rita stays at a home for unwed mothers until she has the baby.  She has no way to keep him.  With no job, no place to stay, and no money for healthcare, he wouldn't have a chance.  So she gives him up for adoption.

Asher Stone is leading a perfect life in California with his adopted parents.  He has everything he can want, a great girlfriend, plans for a soccer career.  What more could he want?  When he breaks his neck in a car accident and has lots of time to think as he heals, he decides to search for his mother...

This is more than a novel about a child finding his mother.  It's a mystery with historical references filled with good people who are trying to do the best they can in the their lives.  How they overlap is intriguing.

While this story has some sad parts, it's a very uplifting story that leaves you feeling good when the secrets from the past are revealed and all the influenced parties move on stronger and happier in their lives.

If you'd like my copy of this book, please leave a comment here on the blog and email at info at bookfaerie.com with your name and address and why you would like to read the book.  I'll pick a winner in about a week.

Happy reading.
