Mechanique by Genevieve Valentine

Subtitle:  A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti.  And what a circus it is!

Prime Books and Net Galley gave me a copy of this book in ebook form for review (thank you).  The book has been published and you can get a copy at your local bookstore now.

This is an interesting combination of steampunk and dystopian fantasy.  The author has created a future world where almost all cities, towns, and roads have been destroyed.  Only the strong survive.  There are no leaders.  But there is one man who intends to become a leader.  The problem is that he wants to use the circus performers in his war he intends to wage and he wants the boss to make him more soldiers like that.  You see, this is a mechanical circus...

All the performers have some mechanical additions to make their show more fantastic to watch.  Some have had all their bones replaced.  To do that, you have to die first.  It's your choice, though, no one makes it for you.

This is an intricate tale with lots of nuances that will keep your attention and make you wonder just how the story will turn out.

Why not pick up a copy and see if this book intrigues you as much as it did me?  It's "different" in a good way.

Happy reading.
