Alaa loves Aleppo but war destroys the city. Most residents flee but he stays behind. It's not long until he earns the nickname "Cat Man". He gathers up the pets left behind and takes them home.
G. P. Putman's Books for Young Readers and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you). This book will be published April 14th.
Soon, he has to move to a bigger space. As people find out about him, they help him set up an account to receive donations to buy animal food. He moves one more time to get further away from the bombing and he takes in all kinds of animals. He loves them and cares for them. In a way, he's like the St. Francis of Aleppo.
This is a true story about the war in Syria. I admire the bravery of this man.
