Marcy's father tells her tales of all his great adventures. She listens and enjoys the tales even if they do sort of scare her at night. She wonders if he's not too old and too fat to do such brave things anymore. But when he tries to take her in a cave, she refuses to follow him into the dark.

When her father goes away on another adventure, she remembers the feathers in his hat will call a big bird. She climbs on him for a ride and goes to Egypt to visit the Sphinx to get her father back. On the way she meets another god who knows the Sphinx wants his moon eye. He gives her his sun eye to use to get her father back. A big snake is after her father. Can she save him?
She saves him and herself more than once. Now she's the adventurer in the family...
With a touch of mythology, the author has created a great story.
