Nonna Marie and the Case of the Lost Treasure by Lorenzo Carcaterra

As Nonna Maria's longtime friend and sometimes colleague, Captain Murino of the Ischian caribineri never wanted to see harm brought to the doorstep of everyone's favorite espresso-brewing, counsel-giving amateur sleuth. But when you live a long life, you're bound to make a few enemies. And when those enemies come calling, you have to rely on friends. Faced with an assassin seeking revenge for a decades-old grudge, Captain Murino has no choice but to turn to Maria, who must use all her neighborly resources, clever faculties, and web of connections to save him from his perilous predicament. On the other side of the island, a second mystery begins to unfold from the deathbed of another of Maria's old friends, when he hands his granddaughter a yellowed map and tells her of a treasure to be found in one of Ischia’s secret caverns, known as the Magician’s Cave. There are traps and pits. There will be others with sinister motives who will do all they can to make the treasure their own. But this map is a guide—the only gift he has to give. When the granddaughter needs help cracking the code, she turns to her grandfather's most trusted Nonna Maria. From battling foes in medieval castles to exploring the notorious caverns where smugglers hid their goods, Nonna Maria and her friends—some old, some new—embark on their most swashbuckling adventure yet.

Nonna Maria and the Case of the Lost Treasure by Lorenzo Carcaterra

They had heard there was lost treasure in one of the caves.  People had gone to look before but never came back.  The caves had traps.

But Nonna Maria wants the treasure for her grand daughter so she finds a map and heads out.

It's a long mystery with the treasure found at the end.  It's dangerous and not for those who scare easily.

It will be published May 7, 2024.

It was a good read.

Nonna Maria and the Case of the Missing Bride by Lorenzo Carcaterra

Nonna lives on an island and knows almost everyone.  She picks up on the things happening by listening to other people.  She and the police chief are friends, and she helps solve cases.  She helps anyone who needs it.

Banta and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

She's trying to help a young woman avoid her marriage since she thinks she was drugged.  To do this, she asks for help from various sources.  The police chief chief's sister had married the same man and she died in an accident.  He's willing to help.

Then an old man dies in the water, and he was an excellent sea captain.  She gets his first mate to tell her what happened and then she goes to man who used to be a drug boss and asks for his help.

The story is interesting and at the end she's off on another adventure...
