The woods are dangerous.  The Beast turns people into hounds.  But Mera and her older sister go wandering and take care.

Mera is a hound part of the time and her sister falls in love with the Beast.

The Beast is part hound and part human.  Toward the end of the book, the Beast dies.

Can they make him come back to life?
