These authors have very imaginative take on the stories.  You never know how the story is going to go.

There are a few of the stories that they use part of fairy tales to create something very different.

If you like sci/fi, you will enjoy these stories.  It was an interesting read.

The fourteen fairy tales in this book are a bit gritty.  Humans who are injured have parts remade mechanically.  Some have no souls.  All of them are doing their best to stay alive.

All the stories are intriguing and interesting.  Not everybody likes automatons so some people try to get rid of them.  No two stories are alike.

My favorite story was "The Coach Girl".  You read it and then come and tell me which one you liked best.

Grim, Grit, and Gasoline (Dieselpunk & Decopunk Fairy Tales) by Rhonda Parrish

This is an anthology of new original stories written loosely based on Grimms fairy tales.  They are all unique and fun to read.  I really enjoyed this collection.

I really enjoyed the story of two women who beat the devil at his own game.  Another one I won't forget soon had a talking plane.

This collection is a winner.  If you like fantasy, you'll like this book.

F is for Fairy by Rhonda Parrish

This is an anthology of fairy stories.  Some have the flavor of old tales, some are wicked, some are good, and some are very modern, but none of them are boring.  I love reading about fairies.  They are fantasy but I still love the idea.  I want good fairies, though, not wicked ones.

Library Thing and the publisher, Poise and Pen Publishing allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published May 7th.

There is a story for every letter of the alphabet so there's plenty of reading matter.  All the stories are varied and well-written.  I enjoyed them all but one stands out as my favorite:  M by Rachel M. Thompson.

Her tale is about a princess her father is ready to marry her off.  She doesn't want to marry a dumb man, so they go through a series of mind tests: riddles and the like.  She's surprised when an owl talks to her but she listens to him and finds some princes are cheating,  She exposes them and they leave in disgrace.  When she finally meets a prince she likes, she realizes it's the owl in human form.  He becomes her choice.  He's fairy, so they have to compromise on how life will go on, but marry they do,  and they live happily ever after.

The ending subtitle for this story is:  M is for Maturity.

I liked the fact that she chose the man she wanted and lived happily ever after.  So what he was a fairy, it just makes it a bit more interesting.

I'm sure you'll find a story or two that you like especially well, too.  There are all kinds for all tastes.  Give it a try, it was a good fantasy read.

Mrs. Claus: Not the Fairy Tale They Say edited by Rhonda Parrish

This Mrs. Claus is not that smiley nice lady that hands out apple cider and cookies (or milk if you choose).  These ladies (if you can call them that) are more dangerous than they are sweet.  These fantasy tales are great fun to read.  Want to get in the mood for Christmas?  Read these tales to learn what not to do.

Red to Hide the Blood by Hayley Stone, which is the last story in this anthology, was one of my favorites.  The best one in my opinion was the first story:  Wight Christmas by Laura VanArendonk Baugh.  This Mrs. Santa has a heritage that stands her in good stead even if wights are out and about.  I love strong women stories.

None of these stories are bad, I enjoyed them all.  Why not give it a read and tell me which stories touched you?

Equus by Rhonda Parrish

When I discovered this book, I knew I had to read it.  I like horses, I like magic, and I like fantasy.  Here it is all wrapped in one anthology collection.  Oh, I also like short stories!

There are unicorns, kelpies, pegasus and knitting in these stories.  One woman knits her way to the stars where she can ride with the horses.  In Rue the Day, the young man aiding the woman unicorn rider rapes her so she can't ride anymore.  Unfortunately, it just makes her unicorn mad and he pays for his offense.

My favorite read in this book was Ladie's Day.  They're at the races and her sister and another woman are planning on their horse to win the same race.  She's the ugly duckling compared to her sister but she likes the young man that's friends with her sister's date.  Then she finds out from a vision that her sister has magicked her horse and he's the judge who checks the animals for drugs or magic...

All the stories in this collection are good.  Each author has a completely different take on where the animals live and how they behave.  It makes the stories surprising and unique.  If you like fantasy, magic, or horses, you'll love this book.  Tell me what story touched you.
