Have you ever seen a loon? They are a beautiful bird. This book has pictures and facts for young ones so they can see how they grow.
The Minnesota Historical Society Press and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published March 31st.
You see the baby loons being born. The first thing they are taught is how to swim. They ride on their parents backs when they are tired or there's danger near. They teach them to fish. As they grow they learn to fly.
They also teach them to be careful around snapping turtles and to dive when they see an eagle. It's hard work being small when you're young.
Eventually their parents leave them and they go on to develop their own families.
The rear of the book has more facts about these fascinating birds. They have done a very nice presentation that will appeal to young ones.
