Are you ready for an enjoyable romp through a world filled with odd characters and a drugged fruit? There's no way you can guess what all the characters will have to go through or do to win in their quest to right the kingdom. But you can sure have fun reading the book and going on the trip with them!
The author and Goddess Fish Blog Tours allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). You can find a copy on Amazon now.
Many things in this story are zany, a bit farcical, and whole lot of tongue-in-cheek. When the story starts you get bits and pieces about various characters with no knowledge of how they will come together. As soon as they join up, it all makes sense.
You have a warrior who has been disgraced, two ninety-some year old masters who are Ninja-like, an orphaned boy and girl, an archer who has been foiled by a plot, and even a couple of gay Ogres. What more could you want? How about a dwarf who used to be part of a carnival, a fat man that can eat 70 hot chicken wings, and a woman who runs the local thieves group?
This story has lots of action that seems unrelated and yet all ties together. There are battles everywhere. All the characters end up in impossible positions but still survive. My favorite part of the story is when the warrior dresses up in a pink dressing gown with fur and those cute shoes that match it because the vendor said it would make him invisible. Lots of people ignore him but not because he's invisible; they don't believe what they see and don't want to see more! That's one of the most ridiculous things I can think of, but it was sure fun to read about.
You won't get bored. It's a battle down to the last pages. With amusing characters and several surprises in the story, it made a good read if you could suspend belief a bit. I did and enjoyed it.
