Puppies need a home. Everyone needs love in their life and when Wally runs away he doesn't even have anyone to say goodbye to. Can Wally find a place he fits in?
Random House Books for Young Readers and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published on July 7th, just a few days from now.
When Wally's travels take him to the sea, he meets some sailing dogs. He gets even more interested when he finds out they are pirates. He wants to be a pirate, too!
Needless to say, the pirates reject him for being too young. He's not going to give up, though. Since he can't swim, he hides in a food box that will be transported to the ship. Luckily it's the box with steaks in it...
Wally finds Henry, a boy, hiding in the store room also. They decide to be friends and join the pirates together. It's not going to be easy. They don't want the human on board at all and they tell Wally he has to walk the plank. Then the captain stops him and tells him he has to go through some tests to become a pirate. Every test gets a bit screwed up, but Wally comes out looking good. I really like the solution he finds for fighting the cat pirates. It's very imaginative.
This is a cute tale of puppy looking for a home and he's found one now. I'm sure he'll be having more adventures, watch for them.
