When Rachel and Tom take some kids out on a litter pick up detail, they never expected to find a body under a mattress. The worst part was that the girl's sister was on the pick up detail...
Poisoned Pen Press and Net Galley allowed me to download an ebook of this story for review (thank you). It is available now, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.
Was the murdered girl killed because she was trying to prove an imprisoned man was not guilty of murder? Or was it just a male predator? If it was a predator, why hadn't she been raped? And why was she kept in a freezer for a while?
As Tom follows the case and tries to makes sense of what he's learning, Rachel gets a call from her sister. They haven't been real close lately but when Michelle says she's being stalked and wants to stay with Rachel, what can Rachel say but yes?
She's not sure if Michelle is just overstressed or if what she is saying is true. When the stalker calls her by name, she wonders if Michelle is the true victim. It's even more scary when he can access her veterinarian clinic and home despite locked doors.
Tom is working on solving the murder case and worrying about Rachel. Rachel is worried about Michelle. The killer isn't worried about anybody.
This is a twisted tale with two cases intertwining and becoming ugly. I didn't see this coming, it was a very interesting touch. Watch out for the crazies, OK?
Happy reading.
