Wedgieman: A Hero is Born by Charise Mericle Harper

Veggiebaby was a superhero.  His original superhero feat was eating tons and tons of vegetables.  Then he moved onto to bigger things.  Of course, he still ate his veggies.

Random House sent me this Step Into Reading book for review (thank you).  This one is a level 3, which is for grades 1-3.  You can purchase this book at your local bookstore now.

If your child enjoys silly stories and laughing, this a great book for him/her.  Veggieman is pretty corny and his antics while growing up are far out and funny.  You can dress them in a cape (towel or blanket) and help them draw pictures of the bus he lifted or the tree.  Then they can act out the story.  They'll mostly likely want to draw something heavier to show they are even stronger than Veggieman.

The most fun in this story is at the end when he makes a final rescue and the children think he's Wedgieman.  He tries to explain he's not, but somehow our hero gets renamed.

I bet the next book in this series is going to be even funnier and sillier.  What do you think?

Happy reading.

This looks like an excellent book to also encourage little ones whom don't eat veggies to do so, then they can be just like their hero. Like you said add the cape and be ready for fun!!
