The Magic Thief: Home, Book Four by Sarah Prineas, Antonio Javier Caparo (Illustrated by)

Conn is finally back home with the competing magics calm again.  His only problem now is that Rowan wants him to be the ducal magister and live in the castle.  He doesn't want to live in the castle.  He likes living at home with his friend, the wizard.  It all goes to pieces when someone starts stealing the magician's locus stones.  The magicians all know it has to be Conn because of his past as a thief.

HarperCollins and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published September 16th.

The only way Conn can think of to stop the thefts and find the thieves is to infiltrate them.  It means going back to his past.  Can he do that and get out again?  He thinks so, but he's not counting running into an old enemy that wants him dead.

One of my favorite characters is Conn's pet dragon.  He's a magical being and when Conn uses spells to enhance him he's a very formidable enemy even if he is small.  I really like Conn, too.  He keeps trying even when it seems hopeless.  I'd want him on my side in a battle.

Crowe is back and intends to get even with everyone who was against him before.  He's going to control the magics and run the world.  The thieves are planning on gold and money but Conn is pretty sure that's not going to happen.  When they persist in using pyrotechnic force to make their presence known, Conn tells them that will unbalance the magic powers.  They think he's foolish.  They'll find out.

This was a very good series and I especially liked the ending in this book.  Conn finally has a "home" and a family.  How can you not be pleased with that?  Nobody said his adventures were over yet, by the way.  He might be back, you never know.
