Loula has brothers; they are triplets and they are awful! She announces to her parents that she wants a sister. They tell her it takes special ingredients to make a sister...
Kids Can Press and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review. It has been published, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.
I loved this picture book! First off, Loula sets off on her mission with the chauffeur; her parents don't have the time to look for ingredients. The chauffeur helps her graciously, does nothing to puncture her dream and even sets the table for the tea and cakes that are supposed to make her sister magically appear.
She's about to despair because no one is coming. Maybe her favorite cakes aren't good enough? Then there's a party crasher! It's a big dog and he loves the cakes. Loula soon decides she loves him, too. Even when the chauffeur points out he's not a sister but a Mister, she's happy.
It's a cute story and I like the word play. Loula no longer has a hole in her heart. Mister is there.
