I'm afraid this one reminds of the tale of leaving the fox to guard the hen house. The farmer wants his dog to catch the thief eating his crops. The dog gets right on it!
Kids Can Press and Net Galley allowed to read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can get a copy at your local bookstore now.
This is a fun story with cute graphics. None of these animals are real smart, but they all band together to help the farmer.
This first "thief" the dog finds is small blue moth that flies away. As he runs through the trees and fields, he asks everyone if they have seen the moth. Some have, some haven't. If he had any powers of observation, he might notice they are eating the crops that are going missing...
To make it even worse, the animals are afraid the food might be stolen, so they pick it all and put it in a pile. When the dog and the farmer don't return as soon as they think they should, they decide to put it somewhere safe. When you turn the page and find out where they put it, it will make you laugh.
I guess, at the end, the dog really did find all the thieves, even if he did it the wrong way...
