This is the first story about Gabriella Giovanni. She's a very interesting character with lots of depth, her own secrets, and a desire to be self-sufficient and to follow a career she loves. She's a crime reporter and she enjoys her job.
Edelweiss and Witness Impulse allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be on sale June 10th, so make a note on your TBR list.
Gabriella is facing three problems in her life. A new person has been hired to work with her but she gets the feeling the girl is being groomed for her job. She's afraid the new manager is going to fire her. She's interviewing a serial killer and he's toying with her about her sister's death years ago. And, without any intention of doing so, she's developed a relationship with the detective on the case. Both she and Donovan are carrying lots of baggage but there's no doubt they both care for each other. However, they have different visions of a future life together, so it'll never work out.
As Gabriella keeps trying to find the current missing child, she can't help remembering her sister's kidnapping and death years ago. The current killer in prison is taunting her with information only the killer should know. At least that's what she believes until she finally reads the newspaper clippings about her sister's death and finds the info written there.
She gets pulled off the crime reporter position and moved into educational updates. She and Donovan split up. And the killer draws her closer in his net. The ending is very dramatic. This is a suspenseful story with lots of action. It would make a great movie.
I'm already looking forward to the next book.
