The View From Here by Cindy Myers

She was almost afraid to open the envelope.  It was from some attorney's office and she had had enough of attorneys and legal battles with her now ex-husband.  She'd given twenty years of her life to him.  Set all her owns need aside to be a good wife.  And now he discards her for a younger, fresher version.  She was sure this letter wasn't good news...

Kensington Books sent me a copy of the ARC for this book (thank you).  It has been published, so check with your local bookstore to grab a copy.

When Maggie discovers that her long lost father has left her his home and a gold mine in Colorado, she decides she has nothing to lose and moves.  What she finds is nothing like she imagined.  The home is a cabin on the side of the mountain.  The view is great, but it's a long fall if you misstep.  The gold mine doesn't appear to have any gold.  And the two vehicles he left her were an old ratty pickup and a snowmobile.  Not much luxury here...

Maggie's father had secrets.  He left them shortly after he'd returned from the Vietnam War and he'd made no attempt to see her in all the years since.  Of course, most everybody in this little town had secrets of some kind.  What Maggie didn't expect was how big everyone's heart was here.  She also didn't expect to want to stay.

This is a romance set in an odd setting; I liked it.  I've been in some very small towns and they definitely have their own characteristics and their own characters.  Ms. Myers has a talent for making her characters feel authentic.  The emotions in this story are real.

Why don't you visit Eureka and see if you think you could fit in here?  I think I could.

If you'd like my ARC of this book, please leave a comment here on the blog and email me at info at bookfaerie.com with your name and address and why you would like to read this book.  I'll pick a winner in about a week.

Happy reading.

This sounds like a wonderful read. I'm a small town girl myself, and I really enjoy reading stories about unusual settings and other small town romances.
