The Fire Chronicle by John Stephens

This author really knows how to grab your attention and keep you fascinated throughout his entire story.  He creates grand adventures with magic entwined.  This is his second book in The Books of Beginning series and I'm already looking forward to the third and final book.

Knopf sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you).  The book has been published, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.

I had read and reviewed the first book in this series (see the review here:  Emerald Atlas) and was very pleased to get the second book.  Mr. Stephens excels his first book with this effort.

Kate travels back in time, Michael finds himself the "leader" (and doesn't want to be) and Emma, the youngest, is still trying to prove that she can help.  Their quest is to find three books.  The challenge is to do it ahead of the evil wizard and without getting killed.  There's even a dragon featured in this story.  These children have their work cut out for them.

Now that I've read this one, I can't wait to read the last book.  It will be Emma's turn to shine.

Happy reading.
