This is the first book I've read by this author and I was impressed. He wrote a good young teen tale and gave his characters some gumption. They aren't only interested in looks and love; they have integrity.
Delacorte Press sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you). It has been published, so you can find a copy of it at your local bookstore now.
Lemonade Mouth is a band and they unexpectedly make a connection with a really prominent promoter that says he can make them money. They talk about it together and then with their parents. It's a great opportunity, so they decide to pursue it.
Each character has his or her own challenges. Despite that, they all work well together. When the promoter starts their career out with an ad that has been airbrushed to make everyone look perfect, he starts rubbing them the wrong way. When they protest, they do it on stage with a new song and their new career starts going awry.
Would you be brave enough to speak out against ethical or moral wrongs? Could you make a difference? These kids did. And they're still singing.
Happy reading.
