Shirley and Jamila Save Their Summer by Gillian Goerz

Jamila doesn't want to spend her summer in a science class anymore than Shirley wants to go to a dance class.  When they run into each other at a garage sake, they come up with a plan that may save them.  Shirley tells her mom about it and then gets her mom to talk to talk to Jamila's mom.  The agree but they have to sign an agreement that that's what they will do.

Dial Books and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published July 14th.

Jamila loves basketball so they walk down to the big basketball courts and she practices.  Shirley reads books.  But one day they see trouble over at the swimming pool and Shirley is off detecting with Jamila assisting.  Someone stole his backpack and it had his lizard in it.  They've had other things stolen, too.  The only problem with this is that this was not part of the mom's agreement.

Shirley finds the culprit and they work out with her.

Now they have to work things out with their moms...
