This Way Charlie by Caron Levis, Charles Santoso

Jack is a goat and he likes his personal space.  Everyone is good about that except the new horse they brought home.  He actually steps on Jack.  That's when the owner tells him he has one blind eye.

Abrams Junior Readers shared a copy of this book with me for review (thank you).  It has beeen published and you can get a copy now.

Charlie can't wander the farm like the other animals do looking for food, so Jack takes pity on him.  He leads him to pastures with good grass and to creeks to get a drink.  Before long they are good friends.  Then he notices Charlie is losing the sight in his other eye.  Now he takes even better care of him.  Charlie tries to get him to come in the barn but Jack has bad memories about a barn.  Will Charlie succeed?

The best part about this book is that it is based on a true story.  There really was a horse and a goat who took care of each other.  It's a sweet story that any child who likes animals will love!
