A Plain Scandal, An Appleseed Creek Mystery by Amanda Flower

Chloe was hoping everything was back to normal now.  The death of the Bishop was heartbreaking for so many and shook up the Amish community, but everyone was healing now.  And then someone starts cutting off the girl's long hair and men's beards.  Who would do such a thing against the Amish faith and why?

B & H Publishing Group and Net Galley let me download an ebook of this story to read for review (thank you).  It has been published, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.

Chloe can't imagine who in the community would do such a thing.  When she finds the Amish won't involve the police in it, she decides to do some investigating on her own.  She thinks there is something off about the case, but isn't sure what.

Chloe also discovers she has a new landlord who is very interested in the house she's renting.  She's not sure how much longer she and Becky can live there.

The new Bishop is causing problems with the Troyer family.  He wants to forbid them to see Chloe and their children who have left the faith.  (The Deacon is actually behind it.)  So there's conflict at her home, with her friends, and in town.  To make things even worse, Chloe finds a dead man at a local celebration.

This case has a lot twists and turns before it comes to finish.  Chloe has a big crush on Tim and it appears he's taken with her, too.  The mysteries take center stage, but it's nice to watch the slow growth of this romance.

I enjoyed this second book in the Appleseed mysteries as much as I did the first.  I'll be watching for the next book so I am able to watch the characters "grow".

Happy reading.
