See You Soon by Mariame Kaba

Queenie loves her mom.  Sometimes she's sick and Grandma takes care of her.  They do everything together.

Haymarket Books and Edelweiss let me read this book for review.  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

Things are changing and Queenie doesn't like it.  Her mom has to go to jail.  They hug each other and cry.  Then her mother says I'll see you soon.

When she and Grandma go home, she runs to her bedroom.  She has a surprise.  There's a quilt with pictures of her and her mother.  That makes her feel a little better.  Then Grandma asks her if she would like to go see her on visiting day.  Queenie shouts yes and thinks she may be able to stand her mother's time in jail.
