Scribbling Women Blog Tour

I'm very pleased to be part of this blog tour.  Tundra always publishes beautiful quality books with fascinating historical facts for young adults.  Even as an adult, I find them fascinating and educational.

Ms. Jocelyn has chosen some very fascinating women to feature as authors in this book.  Some were women writing when only men were allowed in that field.  Many were from brave women documenting their life and times.  I found all the stories enjoyable and astounding.  Women have always been breaking glass ceilings, it's not a new thing.  This book proves it.

Writing your thoughts down lets you give someone a glimpse of times past in a unique way.  It's your own personal history.
Whether it's a Japanese lady's servant talking, a doctor in Vietnam sharing her horror, a slave and her tribulations (there is actually a book written about this that is still in print), or an Eskimo trying to survive alone on an island after all the men have died, the stories are unique, touching, and make you want to know more about them.  I had read about Ada Blackjack before I read this book and was glad to see her represented here.  The eleven women highlighted are all amazing!

These are not boring women.  Young readers should be fascinated by bravery of the women and what they survived.  I highly recommend this book.

Here's info about the big giveaway:  Tundra is giving away a collection of Marthe Jocelyn books!

Thanks for being part of the tour, Book Faerie! Even though I have trouble picking a favourite amongst "my" scribbling women, I love when other people say who they were most intrigued or moved by.

Keep on reading!

i liked your comment about the glass ceiling. it's very comforting to be reminded that that has always been true, and always will be.

I say we take the roof off and do away with the ceiling. Enjoyed your review. I haven't been able to pick a favourite, though I am leaning toward Ada Blackjack.

I agree. They should have equality for all. If you can do the job, you should get the pay. No one should be turned away because of gender, religion, color or sexuality. Unfortunately, not all folks share my point of view.
