Animal Rescue Team: Hide and Seek by Sue Stauffacher

Was she hearing the lady right?  Did she say a deer had a pumpkin on its head and needed to be rescued???

Alfred A Knopf Books for Young Readers sent me a copy of this hardcover young adult book to review (thank you).  This is the third book in this series.  Priscilla Lamont is the illustrator.  The book is written for ages 8-10 and includes humor, fun facts, cute illustrations and a fun story.

The family members run an animal rescue business and this deer rescue is just business as usual.  At least it was until the TV station got involved and thought the children were being abused because they were working at such a young age.  Not to mention that the deer moved on and no one could find it again to save it!

Keisha also has another problem.  They have agreed to take in a coyote/dog mix pup temporarily, and she really wants a dog.  But her brother is afraid of dogs and her mother doesn't want an animal.  So she's working on rescuing the deer and trying to figure out a way to keep the pup...

Ms. Stauffacher's characters are fun, full of young antics, and resourceful - even if they don't think things all the way out.  Trying to find a solution to the deer's problem means experimenting.  That will keep your reader's attention glued to the book while they find out how these ideas work.

This was a very enjoyable read.  If your child likes animals, you might want to look at buying the earlier books in the series.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed.  This book is available now at your local bookstore.  Take a trip down there and check it out.
