When Sue Found Sue: Sue Hendrickson Discovers Her T. Rex by Toni, Buzzeo

Abrams Young Readers sent me a copy of this book to read for review (thank you).  It will be published May 14th.

Diana Sudyka's illustrations are spot on.  You can feel the wild wide open spaces and the sun beating down.  Sue noticed some bones in an odd place while on a dig.  The others were gone and she did a bit of snooping on her own.  What she found was a spectacular specimen, bigger and more complete than any other one found.  She ensured her place in history.

Way out on the Washington coast we had a dig going on by the state university.  My husband and I and a friend from Texas walked to the site and looked around.  They even did a little show while we were there.  The weather had brought sand up on the beach and had covered a village that had existed there for hundreds of years.  The artifacts they found still looked new and showed how they lived and what they ate.  It was fascinating.  I can see why Sue got hooked on finding things...
