Purrball Meets Burrball in Brazil by Anne Zoet

Purrball travels with his family wherever they go.  Father works in different locations so they move a lot.  There's never been a problem.  But they've never been at the airport during an earthquake either...

This is the first children's picture book I've read where a cell phone has been part of the story.

Purrball worries about riding inside the plane.  After all, his human's feet might stink.  He survives and they are gathering their luggage and getting ready to go when an earthquake hits.  He loses his humans, runs outside into the forest to escape the noise and falling items and finds himself lost.  He's not sure what to do next.  He does have mom's cellphone and charger with him but he can't text on it.  His feet are too big.  As he worries, he meets a new friend.  There's sloth hanging in the tree. He asks his name but he doesn't have one.  So he names him Burrball.  He also notices his long claws and thinks he might be able to help him.

The illustrations are bright and colorful, the story is a bit silly but fun, and Purrball does find his family again. The rhymes roll off your tongue and young readers can handle the text.  Why not share this cute story with your young one?  It might be a good time to learn more about sloths, too.
