Almost a Full Moon by Hawksley Workman, Jensine Eckwall (Illustrated by)

He and his grandmother are going to host a gathering at their house during the winter.  She plans to make soup...

Tundra Books and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It's due to be published September 6th.

This is a sweet story of family and camaraderie in their cabin in the woods. You get to see the contents of the soup, the boy helps get the meal ready and when the visitors arrive, everybody comes in and makes themselves at home.  One girl has a wolf as a pet, one family has a baby, the visitors are all ages and everyone enjoys their soup.

The text rhymes and the storyline reminds me of family dinners we had at home with all the relatives.  We didn't have soup but we had plenty to eat!

This is a soothing tale with luscious illustrations that will calm little ones down.  Maybe you could make some soup to go with it!
