The Liar by Nora Roberts

Shelby is devastated when her husband dies in a squall while boating off of Florida.  She might not have loved him anymore but he was her husband and she worked hard at being the perfect wife.  Anything less was not acceptable.  She's going to be more devastated at what she finds out after his death...

Penguin Group and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It is being published today, so you can grab a copy now.

I haven't read Nora Roberts for a while now.  She's always good.  This particular book is better than good.  She weaves part of her soul into her stories.

Shelby finds out she not only owns nothing but she's deeply in debt.  Everything her husband bought was financed or fake.  Anything he gave to her of value, disappeared in time.  The only thing she had that he couldn't take away was her daughter.  Now she's going to have to fight hard to save her daughter and herself.

The story gets downright creepy when she finds out that the name he used with her wasn't his name at all.  He has three different ID's.  She even finds another wife.  Just who is he and why did he do this to her?

With the cops and FBI involved, she's beginning to understand she married a thief.  What she didn't know was that she had also married a murderer.  It sends chills down her spine to learn that he pushed an old woman down the stairs during the robbery at her house and that she died.  She's also astonished to find that while he said he was willing to have a bigger family, he'd actually had a vasectomy.  Was nothing he said true?

Shelby goes home, which is the best thing she could do.   She also finds a new romance and hope for a better life.  But all her problems haven't been solved yet...

The story is creepy, exciting and even sweet in places.  It's busy and is an entertaining drama.  I think Ms. Roberts has a winner here.
