Squish: Captain Disaster by Jennifer L Holm and Matthew Holm

Squish sure never expected to be made team captain!

Random House Kids sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you).  This is the fourth in the series and continues tales of the young amoeba, Squish.  It has been published so check with your local bookstore for a copy.  Check out the others, too.

Losing your game is never fun; losing lots of games is worse.  So Squish decides to organize his playing plans and use his best players to make points.  That works real well and his team is starting to win.  At least it does until some of the players revolt.

There's a good lesson here; it's also an old lesson.  It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you play the game.  And, if you're a good team captain, you play everyone not just your star players. It's a little hard to play soccer as an amoeba, but Squish and his team make it.

There are lots of graphics and this is a middle grade story.  Why not share it with your own "amoeba"?

Happy reading.

Team spirit is important and is often lost in the we will win speeches. Perhaps they should write a book like this for the parents doing all the hollering on the sidelines!
