He's sitting at his wife's grave, getting ready to eat his gun and join her, when his phone rings. He has a murder to investigate, so he tells his wife he'll be back later...
The author and Goddess Fish Blog gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you). It has been published as an ebook, so check online for a copy.
Jack Harding is a Texas Ranger who lost his wife to a drunk driver. The driver is a young man who has monied parents and doesn't have to worry any of these unfortunates events; they can buy him out of trouble. Jack would like to find him in a dark alley and take vengence. He's lost his spirit for living and doesn't care if he's taking chances with his life.
When he begins looking for the murderer, he finds himself assigned to work with a female journalist. He's not enthused, but he has no choice. He's a rough and tough Ranger who doesn't any need any young reporter around. Elsie is determined to do her job and they have often have words together.
As more murders happen and they spend more time together trying to find the murderer, they find themselves growing closer together. I enjoyed watching the romance grow between them as Elsie finds out what hurt Jack is carrying and why.
This murderer is a very unique creature. The murders began as a plan to get even and get attention from the public. Soon, it became "fun" to kill. And the killer is very determined and refuses to give up.
This is a chilling story with a fast pace, good action, and a very interesting ending. I'd enjoy reading more about this Texas Ranger. He's tough, relentless, and good at his job. He's also devious.
Why not follow Jack along on his search for the killer? He'll amaze you...
