Rancho de Amor by Dan Harder

Catherine is on the hunt for an old lady that wrote an outstanding romance that has sold a lot of copies.  The company she is working for is going under and if she has more manuscripts they might carry them through this crisis.

West Margin Press and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published on September 15th.

The lady is an elusive one.  No one in town has seen her and no one knows where she lives.  She keeps asking but gets no answers.  Then the cowboy who fell at her feet as she was walking by the tavern says he knows her.  He's not her type at all but she'll do anything to talk to the old lady.  The problem is he's invited her competitor, too.  It's going to turn into a bidding war.  She bids way too much money, more than the company has.  Then Sam, the cowboy gets a call about a fire and as he was taking off, she joined him in boots she borrowed rather than her heels.

They try to save the cows that are calving and she almost gets caught in the fire.  She's sad about the ones they've lost but they saved the majority.  When they get back to the ranch the two who stayed behind said the old lady wasn't, it was the bartender acting.  She gets very angry at Sam and walks out as he announces she'll be speaking at the big romance fan conference the next day.

Catherine goes but she's not expecting to see her.  What she gets is the surprise of her life...
