Glory Bea believes in miracles. Her grandmother plays matchmaker and has matched up thirty-nine couples so far. Since her father went missing in action in France, she's still waiting for his return...
Simon & Schuster sent me an ARC of this book to read for review (thank you). It will be published on March 1st.
When her father's friend comes to visit, she decides she doesn't like him. Especially when he starts dating her mother. She refuses to believe her father isn't coming back. Maybe he has amnesia.
Then France is sending gifts to thank the US for its help in the war. She decides her father will be on that train. He's not. Her father's friend is the one who finally makes her believe he's not returning.
This is a somber story but it ends with comfort from an unexpected source. Gory Bea's skies will be blue again...
