The Elephants and the Chocolate Cake by Balachander Vijayakumar

This picture book series for children features three elephants.  They are easy to tell apart because one has a blue trunk, one has yellow feet and one has purple ears.  Janani Balachander is the illustrator and her graphics are charming.

It's Poco's third birthday and he wants a chocolate cake.  Have you ever tried to find a cake that big?

The first vendor was sold out.  The second one says he has chocolate cakes but nothing big enough for an elephant.  As they stand outside and try to figure out where to go next, a young boy whispers a suggestion in Loco's ear.  It's a good idea!

Can you guess what his suggestion was?

This was a fun read.  I would have enjoyed a piece of that chocolate cake.
