It all starts when her mother sends her to get a relative out of jail. She's never heard of him so she asks her mother how she can be so sure of his innocence. It turns out he's part of her father's side of the family. To her mother, he wouldn't kill his father because he's from an honorable family. So off go Lydia and Bill, her partner in the PI business, to see what they can do.
Pegasus Books and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you). It will be published July 2nd.
When they get to Mississippi, they find Jefferson has escaped jail which makes him look even more guilty. They work on trying to clear him and look for him at the same time.
There are old rivalries in the small community, someone in the cop shop is leaking information, and one family is blackmailing Jefferson into figuring out mathematically how to find winners in horse races.
The more they find out, the more confusing it gets. When they find out the truth, it's still very dangerous for them. Will they get out of here alive?
