Away With the Fairies by Kerry Greenwood

Phryne is anxious for her lover to return home.  He's buying silk and wasn't quite sure how long it would take but she's starting to be concerned.  She doesn't have time to worry about it though because she has a new case.  Why would someone murder an author who loves fairies?

Poisoned Pen Press and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published August 1st.

Phryne does her usual snooping, using what staff she has and hiring more when needed.  She finds most of the people in the apartments have secrets of some sort.  The author was a snoop.  She was also willing to blackmail people for income.  That was her downfall.

With the investigation ongoing, Phryne notices that some Chinese are trying to hurt her, even kill her.  She's not happy with that.  And when she finds out that her lover is being held by a pirate for ransom, she's not going to sit around and wait for that to happen.  She's going after him herself...

With the two stories cob-webbing the pages, she finds the killer and manages to get her lover back.  Not without some distress but overall it worked out.  I wonder what Phryne's next case will be?
