Goblins on the Prowl by Bruce Coville

Mr. Coville always writes children's books with lots of action and sly humor to make you laugh.  I couldn't miss this book which has goblins in it.  I enjoy reading about them and I enjoy Mr. Coville's books, too.

Aladdin and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published June 16th, so make a note to pick it up then. This is a follow up to a book that was published several years ago and I had no problem remembering the original book.  Even if you haven't read Goblins in the Castle, you'll still be able to read this one as a stand-alone.

William and Fauna are living in the castle now.  They're actually a bit bored.  They don't need to worry about that, though.  Someone has delivered a book to the ogre servant there and it's for William.  The adults take the book away and put it in the library saying they will look at later.  However, as you can guess, William and Fauna sneak in and steal the book back to read it.  This was a bad move.

They don't know exactly what to do with it but somehow they activate it.  The big toad sculpture in the hall comes to life and runs off with William!

This is just the beginning of a grand adventure that has goblins, trolls, sorcerers, magic, and a Viking lady who has a lisp.  You can tell right there that someone is pulling your leg to make you laugh.  It's true, there are places in the story that will make you laugh out loud.

Here's very fitting ending to this goblin tale.  Mr. Coville still hasn't lost his touch.
