The Shadow Lantern by Teresa Flavin

Imagine finding an old lantern that will display slides of paintings.  Doesn't sound all that unusual, does it?  But if you can step into the painting and time travel...  Well, that's real different, isn't it?

Candlewick Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.  There were two earlier books in the series and they will give you more background and understanding of the story.  They are all stand alone stories.

Sunni and Blaze think they are done adventuring in time travel, but it's not to be.  The hidden paintings are not where they thought they were and some of the characters they've met in the past are still alive.  This is a fast moving story with lots of action, danger, and some magic all mixed together.  Will they be able to survive trying to meld into the past again?

I like Ms. Flavin's writing style and her characters.  They are strong, determined, and willing to take chances.  It quickly becomes a big problem when the museum curator travels through time, too.  He has no idea how to get back...

I enjoyed this exciting tale and will be looking for more books by this author.
