The Night Before Preschool by Natasha Wing

Natasha Wing is having a blog tour and invited me to participate.  I love reviewing children's books and told her yes.  The book she sent me is really sweet and a great book for those children who might be a bit hesitant about starting school for the first time. The book has been published so check with your local bookstore for a copy.  There are several books in the Night Before series, so look them all over.

This is the story of Billy, a shy boy who just isn't sure about school.  The text is done in the same type of rhyme and rhythm The Night Before Christmas is done and that makes it easy to read.  The illustrations by Amy Wummer are whimsical and cute and go well with the frightened child theme.

After being a bit standoffish during the day, Billy settles down for his nap but he can't sleep.  He forgot to bring his teddy.  No worries, the little girl next to him is willing to share her plush bunny with him.  And, after his nap, he's not scared anymore.

This is very nice story with a light theme to help young ones realize school is not a threatening place and it can be fun to go.  Making your child's first day of school something they can look forward to helps a lot with their comfort zones.  Why not share this book with them?

Thanks again to Natasha Wing for appearing.  For other stops on her Back-to-School Blog Tour please check www.natashawing.com.

Happy reading.

Sent my copy of this to a great grandmother who wrote this back to me: "Lizzie is thrilled to death with the book and is going to take it to pre-K on Monday. When I gave it to her she had me read it at least three times, she said that sounds just like me!!"

This one is a hit!
