Pirate Chicken: All Hens on Deck by Brian Yanish, Jess Pauwels

Children's picture books fascinate me.  The illustrations are great, a chicken acting like a pirate and and lots of unlikely events make this a good story for the little ones.  You might want to add some props that the little one can dress up in.  A handkerchief will suffice as a hat...

Sourcebooks Jabberwocky and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published March 1st.

Lily doesn't want to stay on the boring farm.  She dreams of travel and seeing the world.  So when the pirates come and steal them, she's happy to go and she embraces the pirate's lifestyle.  Now she's got plenty eat and can travel, too.

As time goes on, the pirates go to check out an island and their boat floats away.  Lily declares herself captain.  But then the other chickens mutiny...

Lily isn't through planning, though.  She might be back with another adventure...
