A Fairy's Courage by E. J. Clarke

Rowan is trying to rescue her mother.  Her mother was sad and hid under a tree and its leaves to cry.  When she did so, she became a fairy.  Rowan had already tried to help and got turned into a fairy herself but she managed to become human again.  Now she's trying to explain this story to her father.  He loves her very much but this is beyond his belief.  She makes up her mind to go back again even if he's not coming...

Aladdin and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published May 15th.

This tale is written for middle grades and it has plenty of magic in this fantasy.  Rowan can even change from a fairy into an animal.  The bad fairy that has kidnapped her mother has a foxes as his guard.  Each fairy realm uses a different animal to help them.  But the foxes are taking all the leaves off the trees so the fairy portals won't work.  Someone needs to do something quick.  Rowan volunteers.

The problem is the bad fairy wants Rowan.  That's why he's holding her mother hostage.  Rowan became human again and he wants to know her secret.  She doesn't know how it happened herself, so that's a bit hard to fulfill.  But she intends to get her mother back.

There's lots of action and adventure, the fairies she's traveling with each pick a zoo animal to help them in the fight against the bad fairy.  My favorite is the tiger.  It's a good thing fairies and animals get along.

The ending is dramatic and exciting.  The bad fairy gets away though, so the story might not be over yet.  This was a very good read and I enjoyed it.  If you like fantasy, you'll like this story.
