A Bad Day for Romance by Sophie Littlefield

Stella is getting ready for a wedding.  No, not hers.  She's being a bridesmaid in her best friend's wedding.  Then she finds out her boyfriend is in the hospital because he got in a fight with the sheriff (her other romantic interest) and won't be available for the rehearsal party.  What next?

Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books and Net Galley allowed me to read the ebook of this story for review (thank you).  It will be published September 2nd and it's a very good read.

What happens next is another participant in the wedding gets accused of murder.  Dear old Stella is going to have to do something about that or the whole wedding is going to fall apart.

Part of the fun of this story is not just watching Stella do detective work and getting into to trouble with the sheriff but watching her try to work out her romantic life.  BJ is safe and sane, very calm and not very flamboyant.  "Goat", the sheriff, is hot and cold, meek and mild, and has a strong personality.  She finds them both attractive, but who would she want to spend her life with?

I was so caught up in the romance I don't even remember who the murderer was.  I'd say Ms. Littlefield got my attention; romance usually isn't my thing.

This was a good read all around.  The characters are odd, funny, and good people for the most part.  The murder got sorted out and Stella got her romance sorted out, too.  There are earlier books in this series if you haven't read them yet.  You can also read this as a stand-alone if you don't like reading a series.  If you have, you won't want to miss this one!

Happy reading.
