How the Stars Came To Be by Poonam Mistry

The fisherman's daughter is sad her father isn't home and worries about how he will find his way.

Tate sent me a copy of this book  to read and review (thank you).  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

She loves the sun and plays outside a lot, but this has got her down.  As she sits and cries, the sun asks what's wrong.  When she tells him, he sends her a batch of stars to put in the sky.  She works on it, drawing animals.  Then a monkey steals her sack of stars.

She follows him, they fight over the bag, and the stars spill out of the bag and all over the sky.  And when she looks down, she sees her father coming home...

The illustrations are lovely!
