Healing Hearts by Sarah M. Eden

Miriam is running from her past.  She left home for college and never went back.  They didn't want her.  She became a nurse and was doing well at that until she developed a medical problem.  That ended up with her in an asylum.  She was there for two years and finally escaped.  Now she's on her way to a new job out west in a small town where no one should know her.

Shadow Mountain Publishers and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published February 5th.

Gideon has agreed to take on a mail order bride.  There are two men for every woman in the town he's the doctor for and it's the only way he's likely to get a wife.  She's also a nurse so that will make his job easier and she will understand his work and why he's gone so much.

Imagine Miriam's surprise when she arrives and they take to her to a hall for a reception and attempt to marry her to the doctor.  She agreed to be a nurse, not a wife!  She runs again.

He finds her and asks her to at least be his nurse.  She agrees.

The town is mad at her and not very accepting.  He knows she's hiding something but she won't tell him what.  He finds himself falling in love with her but he can't marry someone who isn't honest with him.  As they struggle along with medical cases and flirt with romance, it gets a bit better and then worse.  And when the doctor from the asylum shows up, she almost panics.  Is she doomed to return to that hell?
