The Vagrant by Peter Newman

This is a tale of a world I hope we never see.  An evil force that is green and mist-like fights one of the great guardians and kills her along with her knights.  It then creates itself a physical being using the corpses of the dead.  Doesn't that sound like your worst nightmare?  And now it's after the last Seraph Knight.  And he doesn't want to be caught...

Harper Voyager and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published May 10th.

This one has the flavor of Stephen King's Gunfighter series.  He has a sword, can't speak and they call him the Vagrant.  He also has one more thing but he keeps that secret.  What really made this story for me was that extra thing:  He has a baby with him.  It's not his but he's protecting it and will not give it up.  That's hard to get away with when they bring so much money on the market nowadays.  Especially if they are female and she is.

He moves towards protection but he has many towns to go through to get there.  He also has to find a food source for the baby and some diapers.  And he has to stay alive.

This is tale of a dangerous world with no one being honest.  Everyone has an ulterior motive of some kind.  Everybody tries to make money off him.  He's in fights continuously.  He just keeps moving and protecting the child.  He does pick up a friend along the way.

Despite all the odds, he finishes his quest and it has a satisfying ending.  If you like grand adventure tales, you'll like this book.
