Gypsy Hunted by Andrea Drew

Gypsy is walking home from a blind date where she actually liked the guy they came up with.  He's a divorced cop who is easy to look at and she connects with him right off.  She suddenly hears a woman's moans coming from the alley.  At first, she thinks it might be sex but then it doesn't sound like that.  What she finds is man forcing the woman into the back of a van.  She can't stop him but she's going to get his license plate number.  The problem with that is the fact that he runs over her on the way out of the alley.  She wakes up in the hospital, not able to speak and paralyzed on one side...

Gypsy has some psychic ability and she can talk to her niece with telepathy.  That's handy because she can't speak and has to get word to Conner, her cop blind date, about the kidnapping and what part of the license plate she saw.

This is an intense story for many reasons.  Conner is hiding something from her.  Gypsy and her sister don't get along anymore but are forced to interact when the kidnapper stalks her niece.  The lady that was kidnapped had a list of bad cops that she intended to make public.  In the hands of the kidnapper, it's even more dangerous.

Connor finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place.  He has suspicions over who the kidnapper is and it's a relative of his.  He also thinks he knows his cop partner and he doesn't.  He knows he's going to lose his career over this.  But it's like a train on the track and he can't stop it.

It has fast action, high emotions, and a bit of romance buried under the weight of the investigation.  The ending grabs you.  I'm pleased to see there will be more books about Gypsy.  I want to see what happens with Connor and what case they are taking on next.
